We will be discussing how the School System in Canada and the how the Grading Levels work. Also we will cover everything about Report Cards and how to program for success.

Learn the history of the Children’s Aid Society, how this organization works and how and when to report child abuse.

October 18 & 26, 2011 (9:45 am - 11:00 am) Immigrant and Newcomer Information Session: Auto Insurance

Find out what the standard auto insurance policy is and where you can purchase auto insurance. Learn how the insurance rates are set and how to save money on your auto insurance.

October 4 - December 13, 2011 Adult Language and Learning Presents: Mother Goose

Adult Language and Learning in partnership with the Ontario Early Years Center present the Parent-Child Mother Goose Program for Newcomer Parents. This program will be held every Tuesday from Oct. 4 to the 13 of December from 1:30 - 2:30 pm. As a tenant learn what your rights and responsibilities are; learn how often your landlord can increase your rent and when your landlord can evict you.

Peter Jones the Branch Coordinator from the Canadian Diabetes Association in Chatham-Kent will be at our centre to speak about Diabetes. He will discuss the causes of diabetes, the symptoms and how to prevent yourself from becoming a diabetic.

Find out what subsidized housing is and if you are eligible to apply for it. Learn how to apply for subsidized housing and what the waiting period is.

August 17, 2011 (9:45 am - 11:00 am) Immigrant and Newcomer Information Session: Food Services in Chatham-Kent

Learn what organizations offer food services and who can qualify to recieve this help. Learn where they are located and what is offered. We will aslo be discussing the pro’s and con’s.

Adult Language and Learning will be offering their services at 4 different library locations; Blenheim, Wallaceburg, Ridgetown and Dresden. Saturday 18, 2011 (11:00 am - 3:00 pm) World Refugee Picnic

Adut Language and Learning will be hosting their third Annual World Refugee Picnic for the Immigrants and Newcomers of Chatham-Kent and surrounding areas. We are having a picnic and BBQ with famly activities for Newcomers, Immigrants, their family and friends to recognize and celebrate the United Nation’s designated World Refugee Day. Bring your lawn chairs, a picnic basket and a friend! Don’t miss out! Free for all.
