Immigrant Settlement and Adaptation Program (ISAP)

The Immigrant Settlement and Adaptation Program (ISAP) assists immigrants in settling and adjusting into life in Canada and Chatham-Kent.

The program provides social and economic bridging services, such as translations and interpretation, orientation and information, referral to community-related services, and employment-related services.

We offer services in both official languages, French and English. We also provide assistance in Spanish, Arabic, and Vietnamese. Services in other languages as needed.

Our settlement services can help you with issues in:

  • Citizenship Applications
  • Housing
  • Learning Canadian Customs
  • Education
  • Legal
  • Transportation
  • Personal Finances
  • Employment
  • Referrals to Community Services

We provide group sessions related to newcomers needs in English, French, Spanish, Arabic, and Vietnamese. Please see our upcoming events section.

We link newcomers with community resources, English as a Second Language (ESL), Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC), and other training programs.

Who is Eligible?

The program is offered at no cost to newcomers who are:

  • Permanent Residents
  • Landed immigrants
  • Convention refugees
  • Protected Persons in possession of a Notice of Decision from the Immigration and Refugee Board
  • A newcomer who has been allowed in Canada, to whom Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) intend to provide permanent resident status

We offer confidential and culturally sensitive settlement services.
